Barbara Jean Jones

Barbara Jean Bacon was born on May 28, 1946 and was raised by her parents James and Marzella Bacon in Riverside, Texas. She attended school in the Huntsville Independent School District where she graduated high school. After graduation, she moved to Houston, Texas where she met and married Samuel Hunter and began to raise their four children: Dwayne, Yolanda, Kevin and Dedria, until his death January 7th 1977. In 1988, she met and was married to Phelem Jones until his death October 23rd 1999.

In 1970, Arthur Bacon baptized Barbara into Highway Six Church of Christ and she remained an active member there for almost 50 years. She also worked at Davis Food City for almost 30 years prior to retiring to spend time with her family.

Barbara’s greatest joys were her love for family and attending church services at Highway Six Church of Christ. She will always be known for her cooking and yearly Christmas gatherings.

She leaves behind grateful memories, laughter and love for her children and five grand-children: Cory (Sarah), Jarrod (Brianna), Jamal (Kim), Jared and Caitlin. She also has two loving sisters Delores Davis, Versie Woodard, her son-in-law Michael. There are a host of other relatives, loved ones and her extended church family.
