Barbara Pettersson, age 84, of Houston, Texas passed away on November 13, 2023. Barbara was born in Granite City, Illinois on June 5, 1939. She was preceded by: her parents, Earl Harrison and Clara Harrison (Woltz); and her siblings, Earl (Donald) Harrison, Rosemary (Rosie) Ensor, Marilyn Burdzilauskas, Ralph Harrison, Ruth Harrison, Elizabeth (Betty) Crone, William Harrison, and James Harrison. She is survived by: her husband of 48 years, Bernt Pettersson; daughter, Jennifer Cobb and son-in-law, Derrick Cobb; grandsons, Josef Cobb, Tyler Cobb, and Jacob Cobb; her siblings, Esther (Sis) Wagner, Carol Jean (Jeannie) Garber, Linda Tennant, Patricia (Patti) Jeske (Patrick), and Richard Harrison. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Barbara lived a full life with several distinct chapters. She was a daughter who excelled in school and in her career. She helped to care for her numerous siblings while working in St Louis, Missouri. In 1972, she began her second chapter when she met her husband, Bernt, at Sverdrup and Parcel. They would later marry and move to Houston, Texas where they had their only daughter, Jennifer. Barbara spent 26 years at Texaco Chemical later Huntsman Corporation. Her final chapter began with the birth of her three grandsons. She would often swoon over their handsomeness and kindness. One of her last words were they are “such sweet boys.” Barbara enjoyed her retirement traveling and spending time with family.
The ability to capture the love she had for her family and the love we had for her is difficult. Her talented grandson, Jacob, wrote to describe her, “There was always a sort of incandescence, a warm light in our lives. She and her one-of-a-kind spark will be missed."
