Barbara D. Shilts, 61, of Katy, Texas, entered into rest March 8, 2019. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 20, 1957 to parents William Douglas and Catherine Jones, and went on to graduate in Pompano Beach, Florida.

On August 9, 1992, Barbara married the love of her life, John R. Shilts. Barbara’s career was taking care of her home and beautiful three daughters. Barbara had a passion for traveling with her family, gardening - which caused her to have one of the nicest gardens, she enjoyed arts and crafts, visiting the beach, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, but above all, her true passion was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband John R. Shilts; her daughters, Rebecca Crosby, Charlene Harrison and husband Joseph, and Angie Whitson and husband Adam; mother, Catherine Jones; grandchildren, Dylan Crosby, Kali, Johnny, and Tyler Harrison; brother Billy Jones wife Cindy, and sister Cathy Willett and husband Steve.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038. The Celebration of Life service will commence at 12:00 p.m. after which she will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where she will be laid to rest.

Barbara and I have known each other since about seven years old . I haven’t seen her but maybe twice in the last 20 years but she always lives my heart. We met at First Baptist Church in Pompano Beach Florida. From then on we remained friends, had many wonderful times together. She will always live in my heart.
