Barbara was born and raised in Sulphur, LA where she met the first love of her life, Walter C Sullivan, while in high school. They married in 1954 and had one daughter, Donna Sullivan. Barbara devoted herself to being a loving wife and mother.
Shortly after Walter’s passing in 1994, Barbara moved to the Dallas area to be near the second two loves of her life, her grandsons. She was affectionately named “Babu” by her eldest grandson and continued to be known as “Babu” to many people inside and outside the family.
Babu (Barbara) gave her grandsons a precious and special kind of unconditional love that only a grandmother can give. She also thoroughly enjoyed spoiling them at every opportunity. Some of the boys’ treasured memories include sleepovers, back rubs, coffee milk, video games, using her typewriter, “shaving” with shaving cream, painting their nails with clear polish, water balloon fights, trips to the store for a toy or a treat, cheese crackers and cheese toast, her always full candy bowl, playing fireman with the garden hose, and playing any game that was requested of her. She loved cheering them on at school performances and sporting events. As the boys grew into young men, they enjoyed talking to Babu about her life experiences and soaking up the wisdom she offered.
Barbara loved music, dancing, shopping, reading, dining out and traveling. She was energetic, strong, always on the go and never wanted the party to end. She fiercely loved her family and found the most joy when she spent time with her loved ones. Her Catholic faith sustained her and gave her strength throughout her lifetime.
She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice that she is now with her Savior in her Heavenly home.
