

Barbara Ann Swick, 68, passed away Thursday February 25, 2016 surrounded by her family. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Jimmy Swick, and her father Arthur Perkins. She is survived by her mother Angela Perkins, her children, James Swick (Brenda), Melissa Swick, and Michael Swick (DeAnna), and grandchildren Tara Powell (Jonathan), Hailey Swick, and Matthew Swick, sister Diane McAlpine (Ken), nephew Nicholas Derrick (Barbara & great niece Gwendolyn), nieces Meaghan Derrick (Nathan Fine) and Brittany Noska (Joseph), sister in law Mary Wierzbicki, nephew Bill Wierzbicki, niece Teresa Guzman (Rudy), sister in law Betty Swick, brother in law David Swick, and her very good friends Judy Thigpen, DeMerle Matela, and Betty Matthews.
Barbara was born in Sealy TX on March 23, 1947 and moved to the Historic Houston Heights at a young age where she attended All Saints Catholic School, Hamilton Jr High, and graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1965. Barbara married the love of her life Jimmy Swick on July 10, 1965. Together they raised three children. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. While her children attended Christ the King Catholic School, she worked in the school clinic. Barbara babysat and helped raised not only her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, but also many numerous neighborhood children. Barbara was very devoted to her Catholic Faith. She was proud of her Polish heritage and loved to Polka dance.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 pm Monday February 29th, Rosary at 7:00, at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston TX 77095. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday March 1st at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston TX 77065. Burial to follow at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston TX 77060. Pallbearers will be Mark Demny, Nicholas Derrick, Rudy Guzman, Ken McAlpine, Joseph Noska, Jonathan Powell, Matthew Swick, and Bill Wierzbicki.
