Beatrice Presas, 87, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. She was born on December 22, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, to Guadalupe and Candelario Aguirre.
Beatrice met the love of her life, Edward Z. Presas, at a New Year’s Eve party. They fell in love quickly and were married only three months later, on February 23, 1954, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Antonio. Together they shared 72 wonderful years of marriage built on love, faith, hard work, and family. They moved to Houston in 1956, where they raised their five children and built a life filled with countless memories.
Anyone who knew Beatrice knew she had a heart for people. She was kind, welcoming, and always ready to help someone in need. Family and friends could count on her for a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply a place where they always felt at home. She loved having everyone over, filling the house with food, music, dancing, and laughter.
Beatrice enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, camping, and fishing. She spent many years supporting Edward and his baseball team and looked forward to the road trips they took together, especially their drives to Las Vegas, where they enjoyed visiting the casinos. She had a special love for cows and collected cow decorations that became part of her home’s charm. She also loved watching her soap operas, watching the Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal with her grandchildren and was known for making some of the best homemade tortillas.
Throughout her life, Beatrice worked hard and took pride in everything she did. She worked as a cashier at Eliot Elementary School, at the Rice Hotel laundry, and alongside her family at the E&B Store. What began as a snow cone stand eventually became a popular neighborhood barbacoa shop that many people came to know and love.
More than anything, Beatrice loved her family. She was happiest when everyone was together, and nothing brought her more joy than watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Candelario Aguirre; her children, Pablo Presas, Guadalupe Presas, and Daniel Presas; and her sister, Francisca Aguirre Cuellar. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Z. Presas; her children, Edward Presas Jr. (Sylvia), Johnny Presas (Gracie), Dora Flores (Daniel), and Oscar Presas; her daughter-in-law, Eva Presas, widow of her late son Daniel; sister, Gloria A. Villa; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
