Belinda Monclova Abbate passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband and children, on August 13, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on November 13, 1964, in Alpine, Texas, Belinda resided in Houston until her untimely passing.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Abbate; daughter Amanda Rodriguez and her husband, Anthony, and their children, Roman, Oliver, and Ellie; son Paul Rodgers and his wife, Melissa, and their twin girls, Raiden and Raine; bonus daughter Tina Rodgers; brother Guy Monclova and his wife, Pamela; brother Randy Monclova and his wife, Jessica; sister Corina Marquez; sisters-in-law Paulette DiLeo and her husband, Bladge; Trish Powell and her husband, Rick; Beatrice Nentwig and her husband, Glen; brother-in-law Marty Rodgers and his wife, Laura; sister-in-law Pam Rodgers; brother-in-law Mike Rodgers and his wife, Michele; along with many beloved nieces and nephews, close friends, and adored coworkers.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Pablo and Julia Monclova; grandmother, Teresa Portillo; younger brother, Rodolfo Monclova; treasured brother-in-law, Terry Rodgers; and her sweet pups, Shorty, Red, and Harlee.
Although Belinda never had the opportunity to meet her in-laws, Anthony “Tony” and Mary Abbate, during her time here, we imagine Heaven gave her the beautiful gift of meeting them at last.
Belinda loved spending time in her yard, admiring her well-maintained grass, enjoying her fruit trees, and caring for her many plants. She was an avid sports fan, most notably cheering for the Houston Astros and spending many Sundays with her son in law, watching football and rooting for the Houston Texans. She loved playing bingo and was never one to turn down a card game. She enjoyed camping, being near the water, riding the motorcycle with Charles, laughing with her children, listening to ’80s music, and eating crawfish! She adored her dogs, Penny, Koko, and Summer, as well as her grand-dog, Sammy.
But above all, Belinda’s greatest passion was spending time with her five grandchildren.
Belinda grew up and attended school in Alpine, Texas, and attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine for two years. In the late 1980s, she moved to Houston, Texas. She worked for the Cy-Fair School District in the early 1990s before beginning a career with Baker Hughes, where she worked for more than 17 years.
After some time away from the workforce, Belinda found her way back to the school district, joining Cy Lakes High School in the SPED department, where she worked for the last 10 years. Belinda took great pride in her role at Cy Lakes. It gave her a strong sense of value and purpose, and she treasured her coworkers. She especially loved that her job allowed her to spend long holidays and summers with her grandchildren.
Belinda will be remembered for her kindness, infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and unwavering devotion to her family. Thoughtfulness was at the core of everything she did, including her final act on this Earth. Belinda’s wish was to be an organ donor, and she left this world a hero, saving the lives of three people: a 58-year-old woman, a 64-year-old woman, and, most notably, a 68-year-old father and grandfather who was a friend of a family friend.
Belinda’s final resting place will be in her hometown of Alpine, Texas. The rosary will take place on Friday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m., followed by Mass on Saturday, August 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A graveside memorial will immediately follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
