Benjamin D. Bourgeois III, born on February 26, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away February 25, 2014. Ben loved family. He loved to learn. He loved his profession. He will be remembered for the meticulous detail and passion he brought to finding oil and gas; for the music he taught himself to play on the guitar, the olive trees and wild flowers he nurtured on his property in Austin; for his abiding love for his wife and children and the value he placed on friendships and commitment to family. Ben loved God and was actively seeking to grow in his faith in God. As someone who always dropped everything to help others, whose sense of humor and caring touched us all, he will be mourned by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Randi; their children, Katie, James, and Chris; his parents, Benjamin and Margie Bourgeois; his sister, Mary Lynn Bourgeois Garin; brother-in-law, Mike Garin; and his sister, Ann Bourgeois Heatherly; brother-in-law, Jerry Heatherly; his parents-in-law, Jim and Nancy Hedberg; sisters-in-law, Linda Coddington, Kristy Hedberg and Laura Spalding; and his nieces and nephews, Ryan and Blake Garin, Kelly Garin Karr, Lauren and Jordan Heatherly, Nate and Taylor Coddington, Lexie and Jeb Spalding.
