It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Benny Kok Che Ho, who passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 75.
Benny was born on February 20, 1951, in Hong Kong. At the age of four, his family relocated to Taiwan, where he spent much of his childhood. In 1963, he returned to Hong Kong to attend Pui Ying Secondary School, where he met his lifelong friend, Peter Yan—a friendship that endured for more than six decades. In 1966, Benny followed in the footsteps of his eldest brother, James, and continued his education at the prestigious Diocesan Boys' School in Hong Kong.
In 1970, Benny moved to California to pursue higher education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His education laid the foundation for a successful and respected career in engineering.
While attending college, Benny met Mabel Leung. After five years of courtship, they were married on July 13, 1976, beginning a partnership that would span 50 years. Together they built a loving home in Houston, Texas, where they raised their family, embraced the values of hard work, and cultivated a strong sense of community through their faith, friendships, and service to others.
Throughout his career, Benny worked in the oil and gas industry before dedicating 17 years of service as an engineer for the City of Austin. In that role, he was respected for his integrity, technical expertise, and commitment to public service as he reviewed development plans and approved permits that helped shape the community. He also supported the family's video store business, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed.
Benny's greatest joy, however, was found outside of work. A gifted cook, he loved preparing meals for family gatherings, church events, and anyone fortunate enough to sit at his table. His generosity was expressed through food, fellowship, and service to others. He found peace and happiness in fishing, camping, cooking outdoors, and cheering on the Texas A&M Aggies, creating treasured memories with family and friends that will be cherished for generations.
Benny is lovingly survived by his wife of 50 years, Mabel Leung Ho; his sons, Edwin (Sarah) Ho of Houston, Texas, and Andrew (Christie) Ho of San Antonio, Texas; and his three beloved grandchildren, Grayson, Avery, and Ethan, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
He is also survived by his brothers, James (Doreen) Ho and Kenneth (Yee Mei) Ho, both of San Francisco, California, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his friendship.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents Tak Wai Ho and Min Hin Ho.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Benny's life on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Forest Park Westheimer Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at Fadi's Mediterranean Grill, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Benny's remarkable life.
