Berelyn Elaine Holmes, was born on July 15, 1939 to Simmie & Pocahontas Jacquot in Baldwin, LA. Berelyn departed her earthly life on Saturday October 24, 2020 at West Houston Medical Center. Berelyn was preceeded in death by her parents, her four siblings, and the love of her life, her husband Melvin Holmes.
Berelyn accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Philips Memorial United Methodist Church in New Orleans, LA.
Family was everything to Berelyn and she never passed up an opportunity to gather for the sake of making new memories--unless it was on a Monday, Thursday, or Friday night while a good wrestling match was on.
Berelyn leaves to cherish her memories to her three children whom she absolutely adored; Raynell of Atlanta, GA, Levin Jr. (Kim) of Humble, TX, and her baby girl Charlene-- her caregiver ice cream & cookie eating/coffee drinking companion in her final months of life. She also leaves to cherish her memories nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, a host of niece's and nephews, family and friends.
Mrs. Holmes' family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the entire congregation at The Church Without Walls, Mrs. Annie Mayes for being like a surrogate sister, and Mrs. Robbie Brown.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 5pm to 8pm at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home located at 1200 W. 34th Street, Houston, Texas.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10am at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home with Reverend James Harris officiating. Internment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, TX 77038.
