He was born in Corning, Ohio on May 24, 1934. Bernard graduated from Corning High School in 1952. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Maureen on May 11, 1957. They were married for sixty-one years before Maureen passed in 2018.
Bernard honorably served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island on the Fred T. Berry for eight years. Once he was discharged from the Navy, Bernard had a career at Columbia Gas of Ohio for forty-two years.
He had a passion for the Ohio State Buckeyes, football and auto racing. He was also a voracious reader but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was survived by his daughter Debra and son-in-law Neil Lindsay, son Jeff and daughter-in-law Lori. He was also survived by his grandchildren Amber and Jenna and Amber’s husband, Colin Fitzpatrick.
He had many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
