

OBITUARY Mrs. Bernice Bowie, daughter of the late Hawthorne LaCour and Vorice Raven LaCour was born December 5, 1960 in Houston, Texas. She attended Booker T. Washington High School and continued higher education at Massey Business College. Bernice was raised in a Christian home where the principals of God’s word was taught. She started her Christian journey at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and New Oasis of Faith. Bernice was recently an active member of Anointed Faith Family Church. Bernice worked at Foley’s, HISD Administrative Building, and FMA for years before pursuing her passion as a wedding coordinator. She started her own business, Your Day Weddings, where she made many couples special day a day to remember. As a young girl, Bernice also had a passion playing the piano and later began to play the music keyboard. Bernice was preceded in death by her father Hawthorne LaCour and three brothers; Wash Adams Jr, Douglas LaCour Sr., and Harthorne Francis LaCour. Bernice leaves to cherish her memories. The love of her life, Winston Bowie, whom she met in 1977 and have been married for 38 years. She also leaves a son Winston Bowie Jr., a daughter-in-law Sheri Bowie, and a grandson Benjamin Bowie. She leaves a loving and nurturing mother Vorice LaCour Anderson and bonus dad William Anderson; four sisters Lavoris LaCour-Forcha (Clifton), Betty Adams Batts (Alfred), Florice Miles (Johnny) and Delores Venzor (Francis). Bernice leaves four sisters-in-law: Carol Bowie Jackson (Alvin), Carolyn Adams, Jennie LaCour, and Cathleen LaCour. She leaves two brothers-in-law John L. Bowie (Angela), Herbert Reado, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
