

Mr. Bert William Whittington, Jr. was born to the union of Mr. Bert "BW" Whittington, Sr. and Ruth Marie Whittington in Anahuac, Texas on March 25, 1948. He attended George Washington Carver School in Anahuac, Texas and continued his education at Wiley College. Bert Jr. returned to Anahuac, Texas and worked the family business, Whittington Plumbing and Heating alongside his father B. W. Whittington for over 15 years. Bert Jr. then left the family business and branched out to various employments to include Maintenance Engineer for Cole Management, Houston Housing Authority where he met the love of his life Sandra Sims and they married on September 23, 2006. He retired from Galwan Management Company in July 2011. Bert Jr. was a member of St. James United Methodist Church from birth and continued to serve God throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his Father: Bert "BW" Whittington, Sr.; Mother: Ruth Marie Whittington; Brother: Edward D. Whittington. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, Wife: Sandra Whittington; Sister: Nancy A. Dabney; Aunts: Juanita Jackson, Barbara Simms, Annie Lara Jones; Sons: Bert W. Whittington, III (Katrina), Jack D. Foster, Jr. (Edwina), Edward W. Whittington (Maci), Daughters: Alice L. Lewis (Gerald Bert), Nicole M. Whittington (Johnis), Kimberlee R. Whittington; Nieces: Juanita Williams (Eddie), Kaylin Williams; Grandchildren: Bert W. Whittington, IV (Pilar), Jabraun D. Copeland, Christopher R. Whittington, Sr., Dejuan L. Copeland, Halle' Perry, Myles J. Whittington, Kyilee Whittington, Isaiah Lewis, Elona Lewis; Great Grandchildren: Amayah Whittington, Chrisasia Whittington, Kani Whittington, I'yanni Whittington, Myah Copeland, Christopher Whittington, Jr. New additional family members included two-step sons: Freddie Simms, IV and Jason Simms; Grandchildren: Kadesha Simms, Avery Simms, Christian Simms, Phoenix Postell, and Kaleb Simms; Sister-in-law: Evelyn Jackson; Brother-in-law: Larry Jackson (Betty); Father-in-law: Odell Jackson. Bert's life will be celebrated on Friday, September 14, 2012, with a Praise Service from 7:00-9:00PM. On Saturday, September 15, Homegoing Services will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, Anahuac, Texas, beginning at 11:00AM. Bert's earthly tabernacle will peacefully rest alongside his mother and father in Rivon Cemetery.
