Bertha Tamez Velez

Bertha Tamez Velez, age 86, of Houston, passed away on January 28, 2025. She was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on July 21, 1938, to Julian Tamez and Hortensia Barbosa. She was a loving mother and devoted wife of 61 years.

Bertha was raised in Monterrey with her brothers, Ernesto & Roberto Tamez. She met the love of her life, Pedro N. Velez in Monterrey, Mexico. They wed on 08/25/1963. They then moved to Houston in the sixties and had 5 sons: Pedro Antonio, Armando Julian, Luis Alberto, Victor and Carlos Velez.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hortencia & Julian, her brother Roberto, her son Luis A. Velez, her grandsons: Christopher A. Velez and Juan David Garza.

She is survived by her husband Pedro N. Velez and her sons Pedro A. Velez & his wife Martha, Armando J. Velez & his wife Martha, Victor Velez & his wife Ada, Carlos Velez & his wife Angelica. She is also survived by her numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren which she loved all so very much.

We will all miss our beautiful Bertha and always cherish the moments we shared.
