Betty Jo Burke

Betty Jo McGill Burke was born on June 27, 1938 to parents Inez and Willie McGill in Westfield, Texas. Betty attended Aldine, Middle and High School. She went on to further her education at Sam Houston State University. While student teaching, Betty met John David "Jack" Burke. They were married August 10, 1960. She went on to teach 1st and 3rd grades at Aldine Elementary for five years. For the next 25 years, Betty was the Assistant Principal at Johnson and Olsen Elementary.

Betty and Jack had three children, Jerry, Mike and Susan.

Her grandchildren include Cole and Kelli Burke, Megan Spencer, Dylan and Caden Massey.

Two stepsons, James Burke and John David Burke Jr. and step grandson John Wesley Burke.

Survived by one sister, Lois Boyd and husband Charles Boyd. One brother, Weldon McGill and wife Carol McGill

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Billie Newsom, brother Sonny Lee and then her husband Jack in 2003 and son Jerry in 2007. In 2003, she fulfilled Jack's position as councilman in the City of Roman Forest until 2010.

Betty loved to cook and sew for her family,

She attended Lake Houston Church of Christ and Porter Church of Christ.

Betty was a wonderful Wife, Mom and Granny. Her smile and Christian example will be deeply missed.
