Betty was born in Warm Springs, Georgia on June 15, 1932 to parents Willie Joe and Sallie Lou (Terry) Copeland. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother Johnny Copeland.
On June 7, 1957, Betty married Nathaniel Johnson in Youngstown, Ohio; he passed away on January 11, 2022. Nathaniel and Betty had been married for sixty-four years before his passing.
Betty is survived by her children, Darla C. Harper and Darvin L. Johnson, her daughter in law Eugenia E. Johnson, and her grandchildren, Daryn Harper, Darclyn Harper, Dylan Harper, Brittney Johnson and Joseph Johnson.
She was employed as a Teachers Aide for Houston Independent School District and loved her career. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, raising plants and flowers and shopping. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family and seeing their accomplishments.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston with entombment in the Mausoleum to follow. A reception will take place after the entombment in the funeral home event room from 4:00-6:00 pm.
