Betty Sue Laroche (nee Jenkins) passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on August 24, 1935, in Houston, Texas, Betty was a vibrant, active, and deeply devoted woman who loved her family above all else.
Betty lived life with immense energy and passion. She was a dedicated sports enthusiast, fiercely cheering for the University of Houston Cougars and proudly holding season tickets for the Houston Comets for many years. She also cherished her community and her daily routine, especially the time spent with friends during water aerobics classes at the YMCA.
A hands-on creator, Betty found great joy in bringing various DIY projects to life—though her determination occasionally outpaced her technical skill. She famously fancied herself a plumber, leading to a few memorable household floods and a minor battle with a garbage disposal. Her family fondly remembers coming home from trips to find unexpected home improvements, including an entirely new barn door Betty installed simply because she disliked how the original bathroom door swung open.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Betty was a fiercely dedicated grandmother who stepped up unconditionally to care for her granddaughter, Jordan. For years, she arrived faithfully at 6:00 AM to drive Jordan to school so her daughter, Tiffany, could go to work, and returned each afternoon to pick her up. Her absolute favorite moments were spent nurturing Jordan, which always included their cherished daily tradition of going to Culver's together.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Gene Laroche, and her mother, Suzy Dennison.
She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Clark and her wife Louise Ritter; and her cherished granddaughters, Jordan Hutchinson and Carson Ritter. She is also survived by her step-son, Richard Clark, his wife Christine, and their children, Sara and Charlie.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
