

Betty Jean Condron Ligon, age 95, passed away on Dec. 9, 2024 in Houston, TX. Betty was born Oct. 11, 1929 in Elgin, TX to Harvey Condron and Winnie Sudderth Condron. She moved to Houston in 1938 and attended Sutton Elementary, Johnston Jr. High and San Jacinto High School. She went on to attend Rice Institute where she met her future husband, R. Manning Ligon, and they were married on Sept. 10, 1948 and celebrated 70 years together before his passing. She loved being a mother to her three children, Cheryl, Richard and Judy, and grandmother to her two grandchildren, Courtney and Cameron. Betty joined the Houston Methodist Service Corps Volunteers in 1963 and served for over 50 yrs. During her tenure she served in many officer roles, including President on numerous occasions. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over 70 years and was an eager volunteer throughout her membership. Her favorite hobby was playing bridge and she especially loved all the friends she made through this pleasure. Her warm and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her daughter Cheryl Ligon; her son Richard Ligon and wife Cathy; her daughter Judy Ligon Pullano and husband Joseph; her grandson Cameron Ligon; her granddaughter Courtney Ligon Cummings and husband David and great grandsons Mason and Cade; her sister Joann Condron Roach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is to be conducted at 1:00 PM Sat. January 11, 2025 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501 Main, Houston, TX.
