

Betty is preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Sabala Sr.; her five brothers, Arthur Sabala, Simon Sabala, Jimmie Sabala Jr., Steve Sabala Sr., and Raymond Sabala; her sister, Minnie Gutierrez; and her late husband, Donald Rex, who passed away during the war.
She is survived by her loving family, including her two sons: Raymond Sabala Sr. and his wife Mayra, and Alex Sabala and his wife Gris. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Raymond Sabala Jr., Stevie Mazin Sabala, Roy Jamie , Christian Sabala, Alexis Sabala, and Cody Sabala. Betty was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly: Royce Jaime, Athena Osorto, Mateo Ordonez, and Kylo Ordonez.
She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Kathy Sabala and Janie Sabala; numerous nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and carried a deep love for Francisco Gutierrez, with whom she shared over 50 years of her life.
Betty enjoyed a meaningful career in nursing that spanned over 30 years. Few know that she began her journey in the medical field as a hospital cleaner on Airline Drive. Her curiosity and determination led her to ask many questions, which eventually inspired her to pursue a nursing career. Betty was a self-taught pediatric nurse and poured her heart into her work. She took immense pride in her career. Her dedication to creating a better life for her two sons was the foundation of her strength.
She was a strong, proud, and loving mother, sister, wife, grandmother, and daughter. Betty was deeply devoted to her family and was known for her resilience, confidence, and passion for helping others. In her personal life, she found joy in shopping, getting her nails done, and attending family gatherings, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite plant was the Bird of Paradise, which reflected her vibrant spirit.
Betty’s kindness, strength, and love will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of care and dedication continues to inspire all who were lucky to cross her path.
A visitation for Betty will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A rosary service will be recited Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 7:00 pm, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, Texas 77003. A graveside service will take place Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
