Betty Giddens Robertson, beloved wife of the late Pat Dyer Robertson, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, the 19th of September 2018. At the time of her death, Betty was surrounded by the loving women who had cared for her with great compassion over the past five years.
Betty was born in Austin, Texas on the 2nd of April 1925 and spent most of her formative years in Leander. She was the only child of Crystal and Lee Giddens who owned the local food market. Betty studied journalism and upon graduating in three years from the University of Texas, she went on to begin her career as an obituary writer for a Dallas newspaper. While writing and editing a newsletter for the Austin Bridge Company, Betty met the love of her life Pat Robertson with whom she celebrated nearly 55 years of married life. Betty and Pat were the proud parents of Pat Jr., Lee, Nancy and Mike.
Blessed with an uncanny wit and a sharp sense of humor, Betty enjoyed nothing more than time spent with family, neighbors and a wonderful array of loyal friends. She spent countless hours volunteering for the Blue Bird Society and the local chapter of the Houston PEO. Along with her volunteer work, Betty was an avid bridge player, a sports enthusiast and a voracious reader.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Pat and her son Pat Jr. She is survived by her son Lee, his wife Debbie Phillips and their sons Sam and Henry; her daughter Nancy, her husband Anderson White and their daughter Sara (Cookie); her son Mike, his wife Jeanne and their children Katharine (Katie), Lauren and Connor; and her daughter-in-law Mary, her son Patrick, his wife Tina and their daughters Olivia and Scarlet and daughter Caroline, husband Parker and son Indigo; as well as her niece and nephew Joan and John Robertson, her nephew Steve Robertson and their families.
