Betty Joan Seymour entered eternal rest on April 27, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday May 17, 2026, at 3:00 pm, at Bellaire Methodist Church, located at 4417 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401.

Betty Joan Seymour, of Houston, Texas, was born in Burlington, Iowa on March 14, 1938, to her late parents, Millard and Carrie Bumgardner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Lee Seymour, and her sisters, Irene Struve and brother Doren Bumgardner.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Steven Wayne Seymour (Angela) of Spring, Texas, and Debra Lynne Seymour Wilson (Jerome) of Fulshear, Texas; and by her cherished grandchildren, Dr. Randall Keith Seymour (Haley) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Melanie Rachel Seymour (Chelsea Jordon) of Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Seymour will be fondly remembered for her lifelong love of music and service to others. She taught piano lessons to students ranging in age from pre-school to 80, sharing both skill and joy through music. In addition, she worked for many years as an independent contractor, helping countless individuals prepare and improve their résumés.

She was a devoted member of the Houston Ransford Order of the Eastern Star #135, where she held several positions, including serving as organist. Service will include an Order of Eastern Star funeral. Mrs. Seymour was also very active at Bellaire Methodist Church, participating in the senior Sunday school and Bible study, and especially enjoying traveling with the church’s senior groups.
