Betty Lou Snider

Betty Lou Snider, 81, passed away on June 23, 2026. She was a resident of Lufkin, Texas. Born November 2, 1944, she was the daughter of James Edward Spears and Georgia Lue Gilbreath Spears. Betty was married to Charles Cecil Snider.

Betty is survived by her children: Clyde Snider Sr. (Deborah) of Merryville, La.; Kathy Wingate (Danny) of Lufkin, Tx; and Daniel Snider (Tina) of Spring, Tx. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Clyde Snider Jr.; Renee Snider Mendez (Benjamin) of Cleveland, Tx/Merryville, La.; Dustin Snider (Janna) of Crosby, Tx.; Brandy Messer (Jason) of Wedowee, Al; Angela Randolph of Robaline, La.; Stephanie Carouthers and Fiancé (Ian) of Kinder, La.; Cynthia Pady of Baytown, Tx.; Matthew Rojas of Houston, Tx.; Alyssa Snider Of Houston, Tx.; and Sterling Trzcinski of Tyler, Tx. She was a 5th generation grandmother and leaves behind 24 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.

In her younger years, Betty found joy in simple, steady pleasures—crocheting, fishing, and being out on the river. In later years, many of her grandchildren will remember “Betty Lou” just as clearly for the quiet companionship of everyday moments: happily absorbed in games on her phone, content in her routine, and always keeping close the small comforts that made a house feel like home. She held a tender devotion for the dogs she owned through the years; they were her babies, and her affection for them was constant and unmistakable. And she was famously fond of hard candies—her candy jar was a point of pride, and she was never quite satisfied unless it was full.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James and Georgia Spears; her sister (baby) Mary Jane Spears; her husband, Charles Cecil Snider; her son, Charles Daniel Snider; her daughter in law, Deborah Snider; her great grandson, baby Samuel Messer; her grandson, Clyde Snider Jr.; and her great grandson, SGT. Jeremias Mendez.

All services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at Brookside Funeral home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Pastor Collin Bryant will officiate the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Committal Service will be held at Brookside Memorial Park from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
