

Betty Sue Venus Houston Stanley – Age 79, affectionately known as maw-maw on March 24, 2015. Betty passed into the arms of the Lord, 2nd into the arms of her beloved husband David, who preceded her in death on February 13, 2009. She is also preceded in death by her parents Willie Mae and Thomas Weldon Venus, and by her brother Jerry Glenn Venus.
Betty is survived by her son Alvin Houston, her daughter Betty Rumscheidt, her sister and brother-in-law Anita and Charles Parsley, and her step-daughter Tamara Wilkins, also by three grandchildren Alexis Houston, and Christian and William Rumscheidt.
Betty was born in Commerce, Texas on July 31st. 1935. She moved with her family to Houston in 1941. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1954. She worked for Foley’s Downtown for 10years. After the birth of her children, she went to work from Butler-Binion Law Firm. She retired in 1995.
After the death of her husband, she devoted the rest of her life to her children and grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, by her smile and how she met all of life’s challenges with her optimistic “No Regrets Attitude.”
Betty was a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, she and the family ask that you make donations to B.C.U.M.C. 16000 Rippling Water Dr. Houston, Tx. 77084 in her name.
