Beverly Ann Cousin

Beverly Guidry Cousin passed away peacefully at her home in Katy, Texas on Monday, August 3, 2020. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Paul Cousin, Sr. who passed in 2012 and they would have been married 50 years this year.

She was the beloved mother of Warren Paul Cousin, Jr. (Diedre Ferrand Cousin) and Chanda Patrice Washington (Iran Washington); grandmother to Nirobe Lowe, Nicholas Washington, Joslynn Cousin, Nathaniel Washington, and Warren Paul Cousin, III. Beverly is survived by her siblings Mary Guidry, Richard Guidry, and Gladys Guidry, and she also leaves behind her mother, five step brothers, several beloved sister and brother in laws, nieces, and nephews and countless cousins and friends.

Beverly was born December 30, 1950 and was the daughter of (the late) Benjamin Guidry and Vera Guidry Grant of New Orleans, LA. She was raised by her late uncle Youlden Guidry and aunt Sadie Vaultz Guidry of New Orleans. She grew up in the Lower 9 and she was a 1969 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a 1970 graduate of Meadows-Draughon Business School.

After meeting and marrying her husband, she became a stay at home mother to her children for a while. She later began a 25 year career at AIG Investments, where she started as a switchboard operator and worked in the mailroom, and she educated herself on the job to work her way up to ultimately becoming an Auto Claims Adjuster for many years prior to her Retirement.

Beverly made her home in New Orleans East where she was well known by her neighbors, until she and her husband relocated to Katy, TX to make a new home after Hurricane Katrina.

Beverly loved the Lord and practiced her Christian Faith until going to her final resting home to be with our Lord. She lived a blessed life and was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

As a result of limitations due to COVID-19 a small celebration of Beverly's life will take place on Saturday, August 29th at Memorial Oak Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. Attendance is limited.
