Beverly Sykora died at home on July 24, 2012 after a short illness. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Loren and Marjorie Dawson on June 26, 1929. After graduating from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science, she married Donald D. Sykora in February of 1953. They had one daughter, Sandra Lynn. Beverly spent her life as a devoted mother to her daughter and companion to her husband as he advanced his career at Reliant Energy as President of the company. Her home was her castle, although she traveled the world with Don and later her daughter. Sweet and kind to all, she loved her dogs that were her constant companions. She had a beautiful voice, played the piano, and was talented at painting, but her family always came first in her heart.
She is survived by daughter, Sandi Sykora Ross; son-in-law, Steve Ross; granddaughters, Amie and Michelle Ross; and companion Mitzi, her dog.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:30pm, Friday, July 27, 2012 in the Chapel at Memorial Oaks.
The family would like to thank the aides and staff of Home Instead, the nurses and staff at BrightStar, the doctors and staff who cared for her at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, and the staff and caregivers at American Hospice for their faithful and attentive care.
