She was born December 20, 1932, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, to Gladys Selby Robbins Wade and William Anderson Robbins, father she never knew due to a fatal auto accident shortly before her birth. Her very early years were spent in Texas with the Robbins grandparents while her mother prepared to support them as a single parent. Shortly thereafter, she and her mother moved to Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Her mother remarried in 1944 to John Dow Wade, a kind and caring stepfather. She graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1951, then attended East Central College briefly and joined the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Later she worked for Halliburton in Oklahoma City before marrying Edward Holstein on September 3, 1955. Then it became a joint effort of following the petroleum trails to various assignments, making many friends along the way.
Billie was first and foremost a loving wife, homemaker, and avid cook. She was a 50-year plus member of PEO. She enjoyed playing bridge, more for the camaraderie of her friends than the making of seven no trump, and met with a group that coalesced as they met in different cities when husbands' work assignments changed and continue a once-a-month game for nearly 50 years. She was also active in the SPE Aux including both bridge and book clubs and in the Junior Current Book Club.
Billie is survived by her husband Ed, many cousins, nieces and nephews including her favorite cousins Ms. Marcia Hamilton Scott and Marcia's granddaughter Katy Scott.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your favorite charity in memory of our dear Billie.
