Billy Polansky, a devoted mother, sister and friend, was suddenly called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She dedicated her life to caring for others and will be sorely missed by many.
Billy’s primary vocation was the care of her family, which she did selflessly for the better part of 20 years. She insisted on exposing her children to life experiences that would serve them well in adulthood like faith-based activities, sports, scouting, and art. Whenever possible, Billy was an active participant in those organizations.
It was only when all her children were in school that Billy took jobs outside the home. At various times, she made corrugated fiberglass and burlap bags. She worked shipping for Danburgs (a department store that was part of the Walgreens family) and subsequently became their first female shipping supervisor. It was also during this time that she became a Teamster. She later held various administrive support positions with the American Society for Medical Technology (ASMT) and Texas Commerce Bank.
To feed her soul, she joined Delta Omicron Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she was actively involved until her death. For a number of years, she enjoyed the entertainment socials of the 50 Plus group of Cypress United Methodist Church and travelled with their seniors to many destinations on her bucket list.
Billy is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joe I. Polansky, and brother, Jimmy Cook. She is survived by siblings Bobby Cook and his wife Rose, John Cook and his wife Cynthia, Linda Ready, Ronnie Knoche, and Karl Knoche and his wife Ann. Also surviving are children Kathy Polansky, JoLynda Gebbert and her husband Craig, Kenneth Polansky, Kevin Polansky and his wife Marlene, and Marion Bebee and her husband Dave; grandchildren Elliott Gilman, Megan Polansky, Kristin Lowe and her husband Jake, Christopher Polansky and his wife Angela, Garrett Gould and his wife Amy, and Blake Gould and his partner Crystal Dirigo with her daughter Chloe Gordwin. She is also survived by step-grandchildren April Starr and husband Greg with sons Colt and Collin, and Mary Walling and husband David with daughter Scarlet and son Greyson. She was especially proud of her great-grandaughter, Audrey Lowe.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Memorial Oaks Chapel, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
