She immigrated to the US in 1957. She met and married Raul Monzon in Corpus Christi, TX in 1959.
Those that knew her, were aware of her remarkable cooking skills, her self-deprecating humor and her ability to make friends with everyone, everywhere. She also loved gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raul (1931-2008) and one daughter, Anna, (1960-2018). She is survived by 9 children: Blanca Leahy, Lourdes Maier, Angelica Leahy, Maria Hogan, Raul Monzon, Jr, Miguel Monzon, John Monzon, Jose Monzon and Andrew Monzon.
