Bonnie married very young and began motherhood soon after. She spent most of her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. Bonnie loved to garden. She was most proud of her American Beauty rose bushes which lined the back property and her African Violets which rested on the breakfast room windowsill of our family home. Bonnie was an excellent seamstress. She made many of her children’s clothes when they were young, even sewing beautiful formal evening gowns for Homecoming and prom events. She attributed her love and skill in sewing to her sisters-in-law, Gertrude Walker, Fannie “pod” Thomas and Margaret “Buck” Cooke. Bonnie also learned much of her cooking and homemaking skills from all of her sisters-in-law. Bonnie had her own unique style which was reflected in our family home’s design (interior and exterior) and her own personal fashion.
