Bruce Alton Scarbrough, 75, of Conroe, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 9, 2018, while holding the hand of his brother Elmer and surrounded by family. Born in Quanah, Texas on February 17, 1943, Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Olney and Mary Scarbrough of Amarillo, TX, and his brothers Kenneth Scarbrough of New Orleans, LA; Edward Scarbrough of Amarillo, TX; and OL Scarbrough of Arlington, TX.
Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a tenderhearted father and hardworking provider for his family. One of his many accomplishments included owning a successful fencing and gate access company, The Gatekeeper, for over 20 years. The name was inspired by scripture (Nehemiah 7:1-2). He enjoyed collecting Texaco cars, pocket watches, spoons, and coins. He had a great love for dirt bikes and street bikes alike, and he cherished his motorcycle days. His TV was always on the History Channel or AMC, and he loved The Beverly Hillbillies, The Andy Griffith Show and Mash. He loved Jesus and country music and singing old country gospel hymns.
He is survived by his children, Domonique Randall, Brittney Scarbrough, and George Scarbrough; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren, Emily, Holden, Dominic, William, Ethan, Oliver, and Ava. He is also survived by his brothers, James, Elmer, and Bobby Scarbrough, along with all his loving nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives. He was cherished as a Father and adored as a Grandfather. Nothing put a twinkle in his eye like spending time with his grandbabies. His kind, gentle, and forgiving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives for a celebration of Bruce’s life on May 18, 2018, at American Heritage Funeral Home. Bruce’s dear friend Ray Sutton and his brother Elmer Scarbrough will be officiating. Following his celebration, his body will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery.
