Cajetan Rosario Almeida was born on July 6, 1945 in Karachi, Pakistan, the son of Pascal and Maria Almeida and entered eternal life on May 22, 2019 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 73.

Cajetan attended St. Patrick’s High school. Following high school he moved to the United Arab Emirates late 60s to work for the Bank of Sharjah, where he worked for 25 years. On January 6, 1973, Cajetan and Florina (Fernandes) were united in holy matrimony in Karachi, Pakistan. This union was blessed with four children, Anita, Brian, Cedric, and Derrick. Cajetan, Florina, Cedric, and Derrick moved to Houston, TX in 1997, where they became members of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Cajetan had a strong faith in the Lord and trusted in Him for his salvation through Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. He always encouraged his family, especially his children, to place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

Despite working very hard in his career, he spent equally as much time on his family. He took on challenges for family, friends and others with no hesitation yet always had a positive disposition in life. He touched so many lives and passed on his habits to his children which is his greatest legacy.

Cajetan was preceded in death by his parents; children, Anita and Brian; sister, Angela; brothers-in-law, Cajetan Fernandes, Tony D’Costa and Peter Rodrigues.

Cajetan is survived by his wife, Florina, sons, Cedric and his wife Claudia, and their daughter, Brianna, and Derrick Almeida and wife Alissa; brother and sisters, Victor Almeida and wife Evelyn, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Victor Fernandes and wife Fatima, Amador Fernandes and wife Maria, Nazareth Rodrigues; sisters, Rita Aisha Ahsan and Christine Lakhani, several beloved nieces, nephews and God-children; as well as many cherished friends.

During our childhood my brother John and myself knew him as Uncle Cajy. Though he was our cousin's husband, but due to the vast age difference we always called him Uncle Cajy later calling him just Cajy as we grew older. He was a quiet and reserved person. He took great care of his family and gave them the best of everything. We rarely met as he lived mostly in Dubai and later moved to Houston, but whenever, he visited Karachi, he always visited us and inquired about our academic and professional progress. His recent visit to Karachi in 2016 was for a span for 3 months in which he stayed to attend my brother's John wedding enjoying all the festivities from his engagement, to the Rose Ceremony and then the wedding. It was a blessing to have some relative from my Dad's sister side to be at this wedding and we will treasure the moments he spent with us.

On behalf of my Dad Patrick, my mum Philo, my brother John, his wife Tania, Robert (my husband), Savio, Amelia & Selina (my children) we convey our deepest sympathies to Florina, Cedric, Claudia, Brianna, Derrek& Alissa, Naza, Victor & fly, Amadore & Fly and all family members. We will pray that God gives you strength and solace in this time of grief. Let us remember, that his sudden heart attack and quick death relieved him of any unforseen pain and we should remember, that our lives are pilgrims here on Earth, we live for the life hereafter. Cajetan, lived his life to the fullest and I am sure will be rewarded eternal life. I conclude with a comforting verse from the Bible

The Gospel of John Ch 5 verse 24 says

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."
