Calvin Lee Jefferson

She was Christened the 9th day of May 1926 to God-parents Edward Johnson and Myrtle Johnson at Macedonia Baptist Church. She was the eldest of four children. She attended Macedonia Baptist Church during her childhood where she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.

She moved to Houston, Texas in her early 20’s to stay with her dad’s sister Mrs. Eileen Campbell (Aunt Eileen). During this same time, she became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the choir, usher board, and hospitality services. She remained a faithful member for over 50 years.

During her lifetime she worked as a short-order cook until her retirement. She was a dedicated single mother to Catherine Ann and Michael Ray Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her father Mr. Simon Jefferson Sr. and mother Mrs. Myrtle Jefferson; brother Simon Jefferson Jr; sister Mrs. Mary Louise Hall (Aunt May); sister Mrs. Myrtle Schoffield (Nanny); nephew Carl Schoffield; and grandson Theophilus Smith.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Ann Smith (Henry); son Michael Jefferson; granddaughter Sarina Hodge (Raymond); grandson Delvin Smith; grandson Derrick Smith; granddaughter Deionishia Johnson; granddaughter-in-law Tangela Smith(Theophilus);great grandson Z’Marcus Ellis; great granddaughter Mariah Smith; great granddaughter Lauryn Hodge; great granddaughter Kennedy Hodge; great granddaughter Addison Hodge; niece Erma Boutte; niece Mary Ann Hall; nephew Barry Schoffield (Rosalyn); nephew Larry Schoffield (Linda); nephew Clifford Schoffield (Deborah); niece Tina Schoffield; nephew Troy Schoffield (Felicia); nephew Craig Davis; and a numerous amount of great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
