Calvin Lott, Sr., was born on January 18, 1940, in Columbus, Texas, to Henry and Thelma Lott. He embraced his faith in Christ at a young age. Calvin was one of five boys and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley Senior High School.
At Texas Southern University, Calvin met his future wife, Eunice C. Boyd, and they were married on August 24, 1968. Both Calvin and Eunice graduated from TSU’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and embarked on a joint venture, establishing their own pharmacy, Brompton Pharmacy, in 1974. Calvin’s commitment to the field of pharmacy was evident through his lifelong membership in the Texas Pharmacy and Health Sciences Alumni Association.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Thelma Lott; and his siblings: Robert T. Lott, Henry E. Lott, Charlie Lott, and Mack M. Lott. While many remember Calvin for his unapologetically “quick-to-let-you-know” nature, he was also a deeply loving and protective individual. His humor and comedic timing were his trademarks, as he would share his opinions on various topics with a touch of wit. Calvin found joy in working with his hands, often engaging in furniture building projects.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Eunice C. Boyd-Lott; and his children, Calvin Lott, Jr. (Millicent D. Collins-Lott), Hattina R. Lott, Jonathan T. Lott, and Delandria C. Lott. Calvin also leaves behind his adored granddaughter, Jahniyah Akilla Reece-Muhammad. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, including Mike Lott, Andrea Lott, Michael Lott, Dwayne Lott, Ricky Lott, Thelma Lott, Charlie W. Lott, and Tera Lott. Additionally, he held a special place in his heart for his favorite cousin, Betty Joe Hood, as well as a multitude of extended family members and friends. Calvin’s presence and impact will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation for Calvin will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 9318 Homestead Rd, Houston, Texas 77016, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
