Proceeded, in death, by his father, Milton Montgomery; brother, Jerry Montgomery; son, Steven Montgomery and granddaughter, Dorian Diaz. Calvin was born in Houston Texas where he met and married Denise Yarbrough on July 31. 1981. He was a Research and Development tester in the Oil and Gas Industry, and later, a business owner of Southwestern Abatement Inc. He was called into the ministry as a Sunday school teacher and preached for the Cambodian Ministry at Irvington Pentecostal Church. He also served as Bus Superintendent, bringing more than 200+ children to Sunday school. One of Calvin’s greatest and most humble achievements was to receive his ministerial license from the United Pentecostal Church, International, Inc. and to build and pastor Grace United Pentecostal Church, on Bellaire Blvd., in Alief, Texas. He was further led to setup food and clothing banks for those in need, a Community Service Worker’s ministry mentoring 20 to 30 individuals daily, as well as, establishing 3 other churches in the Houston area. Later, in his life, he refused to let a crippling disease steal what he knew to be his calling. Rather, he took advantage of his illness by demonstrating his faith to those he met at various hospitals and clinics including doctors, nurses and Home Health Care workers; whom he prayed for, testified to, sang with and shared the Word of God. They thought they had come to minister to him because of his illness. But, it was he that was sent to minister to them because of their needs.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Brookside Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 28, 2015 at The Sanctuary of Houston at 4400 Fulton, Houston Texas 77029 with Rev. J. J. Bourn Jr. officiating.
