Cameron Vowell Bayer, age 63, of Hempstead, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Born on September 5, 1963, in Victoria, Texas, he was the beloved son of the late Judy Morrison and Kenneth Bayer. Cameron grew up in Victoria and attended Victoria High School, where he began forming the friendships and passions that would shape the rest of his life.
Cameron lived fully, wholeheartedly, and with an enthusiasm that was impossible to miss. He was an avid drag racer, hunter, and fisherman, and he had a remarkable talent for cooking barbecue and shooting sporting clays. His drive and skill led him to countless achievements over the years, including being awarded the drag racing Big Dog Champion in 2001, and taking home Grand Champion at the Stock Grill Challenge in 2012 and 2019. He was also proud of his 1st Place finish at the Hold’em & Hit’em Club Sporting Clay Tournament—just one more testament to his competitive spirit and dedication.
Cameron also took great pride in his work. As Branch Manager at Action Gypsum, he was nearing his ten-year anniversary with a team he respected deeply. To him, it was never just a workplace—it was a family of coworkers he admired, supported, and considered among the best in the business.
Cameron is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Morrison, and his father, Kenneth Bayer. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Camille, his stepmother Carol Bayer, and his brother Kenneth Lee Bayer. His mother and father-in-law, Georgia Ann & Butch Emery. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wendy and Randy Sonnen. His most treasured companion, Pearl.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Methodist Hospital and to all the home care workers whose compassion, strength, and patience brought comfort during a difficult time. They are deeply thankful to the many neighbors, friends and loved ones who supported Cameron through this journey. Each and everyone enriched his life and made it so meaningful.
