Camille Klach Amoruso passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the age of 86 in Houston, Texas. Camille was born on November 17, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan. Her father was Alphonse Klach, and her mother was Adela Goetz Klach. She had two sisters, Joan and Trudi. Camille grew up in Detroit and attended Ladywood Catholic All Girls High School, in Livonia, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a B.S. of Pharmacy with honors. She met John Joseph Amoruso there and they were married on August 2, 1958. They moved to Farmington, New Mexico, where she worked as a pharmacist, and John started his career as a petroleum geologist. Camille was a registered pharmacist in Michigan, New Mexico, and Texas.
Camille and John lived in Salt Lake City, Fort Worth and Tyler before moving to Houston in 1965. They considered themselves Texans at heart. She lived in Houston for 58 years. Camille and John were inseparable. She was devoted to him and attended most of the annual geologic conventions with him around the nation. They made many friends through the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). Camille supported John in his endeavors as an independent petroleum geologist, which wasn't always easy.
Camille worked as a retail pharmacist at different locations, including Park Plaza Hospital in Houston. She enjoyed her 50+ year pharmaceutical career with a reputation for accuracy and dependability. Camille always stayed in touch with the University of Michigan Pharmacy program. Camille and John equally relished their college days and especially enjoyed watching University of Michigan football games together, in person and on TV. Camille was an excellent cook; her home-made cinnamon apple and blueberry pies were family favorites.
She is survived by her son James and wife Patricia of Kingwood, son Michael and wife Catherine of Houston, grandson Christopher Amoruso and wife Nicola of Houston, and great-grand daughter Olivia Amoruso; grandchildren David, Andrew, and Camille Amoruso of Houston. Camille is survived by her sister, Joan (husband Jerry) Clary in Michigan. Camille is preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Amoruso. She is also preceded in death by her parents Alphonse and Adela Klach and her sister Trudi Klach, all from Michigan.
