Blackwood, Carl Patrick entered into eternal rest with his wife by his side on June 14, 2026 in Humble Texas at age 75. Carl was born September 20,1950 to Vernon and Amelia Blackwood Sr. In Houston, TX. He grew up on the Northside of Houston. Attended Assumption Catholic Church and School where he was an alter server. He attended Fonville Junior High and Sam Houston Highschool. He met his wife Cheryl in 1971. They shared a long friendship and married in 2004. They were married for 22 years.
Carl was affectionately known by many names Carl, Buddy, Blackie, Dad and Pawpaw. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Vernon Owen Blackwood Sr. and Amelia Puccio Blackwood, an infant son, Dylan Patrick Blackwood and infant sister Susan Blackwood, brothers Michael Blackwood, John Blackwood, David Blackwood, brother-in-law’s Larry Kruse and Tommie Burks.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Durbin Blackwood and adoring daughters Tammy Blackwood Harcrow and Tracey Clark. Stepson, Chance Dorris loving grandsons, Cody Garrett Harcrow, Bailey Donohoo, and Caleb Clark and granddaughter Armelle Dorris.
Survived by dear siblings Vernon Blackwood Sr. (Shirley) Spring, Texas, Donna Kruse Pingree Grove, Illinois, Dawn Burks Shenandoah, Texas, Deborah Mitschke (Scott) Conroe, Texas, numerous family members and friends that he considered family. Carl passionately pursued many business opportunities mainly in the Oil and Gas industry. His business pride and joy was Javelina Fluid Products, a manufacturing company that specialized in various fluid products used in industrial applications. He established and personally managed his company for 30 years on the north side of Houston.
Carl is well known for his knowledge and willingness to help others. Carl volunteered with Special Olympics and competed in many BBQ cookoffs. He had a variety of hobbies which included photography, race cars, antique trucks and boats. Lots of boats. He is known in Freeport for his favorite vessel “Don’t Matter.” He enjoyed taking friends and family deep sea fishing. Carl was also known for his quick humor, always having a joke to share. Everyone commented on his beautiful blue eyes and smile that could warm your heart. He had many health struggles throughout his life. He didn’t complain and tried to overcome all obstacles. He made friends with everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers the family of Carl Patrick Blackwood cordially invites you to celebrate his life with fun memories and stories at a Dutch treat luncheon at Los Cucos Mexican Cafe located at 23739 Hwy 59 N. Kingwood, Texas. Immediately following the burial.
