Carl T. Taylor Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful church member, and respected community leader, peacefully passed away at the age of 93, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on March 2, 1932, Carl was raised with strong values rooted in faith, hard work, and perseverance. At the age of 20, he moved to Houston, Texas, seeking greater opportunities and a better life. It was there that he met the love of his life, Anna Louis Taylor. The two were united in holy matrimony on August 20, 1964, and shared over 61 beautiful years of marriage, built on love, commitment, and faith in God.
Carl attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas, where he pursued his education before making the selfless decision to leave school to work and care for his mother. He went on to build a long and successful career at Stauffer Chemical Company, where he worked for 25 years. Through dedication and integrity, he worked his way up to the position of Logistics Supervisor before retiring.
A man of faith, Carl was a faithful member of Greater Mount Lebanon Baptist Church for over 50 years. The most recent pastor being Adrian Walker. He attended regularly and remained actively involved until his health began to decline. His commitment to God, church, and community was evident in both word and deed.
Carl was also deeply invested in his community. He held leadership roles within the Cambridge Village Neighborhood Civic Club, where he worked to improve and uplift his community, always believing in the importance of service and responsibility.
Above all, Carl was a family man. He was a loving and devoted father to his two children, Carl T. Taylor Jr. and Tiffany Taylor Williams. He was an extraordinarily involved grandfather to his four grandchildren—Arianna Williams, Ari Williams, Keira Taylor, and Terald Riggins—playing a role that went far beyond that of a grandparent. He was lovingly known as “Poppy” to them and many more.
Carl leaves behind cherished memories, strong values, and a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to live on through his family and all those he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Taylor and Earnest Taylor; and his brothers, Marvin Taylor and Earnest Taylor Jr., who welcomed him home.
