He was born in a small rancho named Finesterre in Coahuila, Mexico.
Upon his father’s passing in 1982, Carlos began to work in his pool bar. After completing grade school, he attended Instituto Tecnológico Edison, where he began to learn his trade, which would be the foundation for his professional and personal endeavors.
In 1986, at the age of 16, Carlos moved to Juarez, where he lived with his Tia Petra and many beloved cousins. He would work between Juarez and visiting his hometown, Finisterre, until he moved to Houston, Texas, in 1990.
During this time in his life, he wore many hats. Upon arriving in Houston, he worked in a poultry factory, where he gained his nickname: Gallina. Carlos began his career in car audio at JJ Electronics in 1993, which would be the beginning of his many decades in the industry. He turned his love for music into a DJ business. Working in many bars across the Houston area.
In March of 2010, Carlos achieved his dream of opening 249 Sports Bar and Grill, where he was well known and admired. In 2021, he expanded with an additional business, CJ Auto Alarms and Tinting.
He married Theodora Francesca Alvear in 1995. They had two children: a daughter, Karina Luz Elizabeth Chavarria (1998), and a son, Carlos Jaime Chavarria Jr. (2003). Although as a couple they parted ways, as parents they endlessly loved both their children. They both cherished and lived for them, giving them unwavering support. No matter the paths they took in life, their children remained their most beautiful and greatest blessing.
Carlos was a man of many passions, and he poured his heart into each and every one of them. Above all, he loved his children, his family, his work, and his business he worked so hard to build. And of course, we cannot forget his love for chicken! We cannot forget his love of cooking, making caldo de res con verduras, pozole con verduras, and his famous wingz.
Carlos Jaime Chavarria Sr. passed into eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Carlos is survived by his two loving children: Karina and CJ; his loving brothers, Jose Angel, Efrain, and Hector; his beloved sisters, Sofia and Blanca; his dearest cousins: Angelica and her husband, Carlos Zaleta, Juan, Lorenzo, Luis, Lola, Beatriz, Magda, Edgar, and Nicanor; and his friends.
Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, we find comfort and peace knowing he has been reunited in heaven with his beloved parents, Jesus Sr. and Maria, and his siblings, Jesus and Rosa. While we deeply grieve his passing, we take comfort in the love he shared, memories he created, and his impact he made on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten. He will continue to remain a part of us, remembered with love, honored with dignity, and cherished always.
