

Carmen Minerlva Ortiz, 69, passed away surrounded by her loving family in Houston, Texas on August 11, 2016. She was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on October 7, 1946 to Cristino Ortiz Santos and Carmen Rosa Lopez Castro, who preceeds her in death. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Tamara Nazario; grandson, Lance Antonio Nazario; 2 brothers, Narciso Ortiz and Genaro Ortiz; 2 sisters, Felicita Ortiz and Ramonita Ortiz.
Carmen loved travelling to visit her brothers and sisters. She especially loved being with her 2 sisters, Monin and Virginia. She always looked forward to going to the casinos and playing the slots and bingo. Carmen enjoyed watching home shopping channels on television, and ordering numerous house hold items. She enjoyed sewing, and washing clothes. Mostly she was a care giver, always caring about and thinking of others before herself. Carmen had an unforgettable smile, and her presence lit up the room. She was a fighter to the end. Her strength and courage will live on in the hearts of her cherished family.
Carmen is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Felipe Nazario; children, Wanda Nazario, Luis Nazario(LaSalle), Damaris White(Dale), Janet Cruz(Carlos), Wynell Minerlva Thomas, Crystal Theodora Brown, Brendaly Vanessa De Leon; grandchildren, Yesenia Burgos, Eliezer Santiago, Nathaniel Santiago, LaRoyce R. Nazario, Luis Nazario Jr., Lavonne D. Nazario, Jeffery Ray Nazario, Sophia Damaris Doss, Jacqueline Ruth Doss, Samuel Charles-Demar Doss, De Angelo William Jackson, Edwin Sanchez, William Manuel Sanchez, Tamara Keyliany Marie Sanchez, Hayden Yandel Martin, Yadriel Lovell Martin, Samara Lenay Smith, Jaden Manuel De Leon, Jennibell Rosado, Jaslene L. Jackson; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Sotero Ortiz(Mercedes), Ramona Sosa(Ramon), Cristino Ortiz, Luz Ortiz, Maria Virginia Ortiz; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
