Carmen Louisa Schultz

Carmen Louisa Schultz, our beloved Matriarch, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. True to who she was, she spent her final hours surrounded by the people she loved most—her children, children-in-loves, “adopted” children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Carmen was born in Detroit MI on April 22, 1935.

Carmen is preceded in death by husband George Schultz and two loving sons Dave Schultz and Don Schultz.

She is survived by Deb Schultz, Doug Schultz (Debbie), Daniel Schultz (Debbie), LaRee Day (Mike), Terry Boneau (Steve), Dee Ard (Troy) 26 adored grandchildren plus spouses, and 52 playmates/great grandchildren.

To know Carmen was to know unwavering love. Whether it was spoiling her great-grandchildren with affection (and maybe a few extra gifts), praying with her daughters, or sitting with a grandchild through a heartbreak, she was always there—fully present, fully invested. If she knew you, she loved you. And if she loved you, she prayed for you. She prayed over every stitch of a crocheted blanket or “prayer shawl,” and you could feel that love in every fiber.

She was a fierce defender of the underdog and never hesitated to stand up for those who had been overlooked or cast aside. In her eyes, no one was beyond redemption, and no one was undeserving of love.

That being said, kindness didn’t mean she was dull. Carmen was as spunky as they come—covered in bling, full of mischief, and always up for a good laugh. She’d throw a rock at you just to make a point, jump in the pool fully clothed without hesitation, take on a “cinnamon challenge”, or give you a playful whack with a hairbrush if she thought you were whining too much. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and her laugh alone could turn a bad day around.

As a leader in faith, she lived what she believed. Her example set off a chain reaction that will continue through the generations. Her legacy lives on in all of her “Favorites,” and while she will be deeply missed, her “Sweet Angels” now have the ultimate Angel up in Heaven.
