Carol Louis Broussard

Carol Louis Broussard, age 91, departed from this life to be with our Lord, at 9:15pm, on May 18, 2016, after many years of stress in his life, ending with lung cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose Broussard; the love of his life, his late wife, Anna Mae Broussard. He is survived by their four children, Elaine Kluge and husband Ken, George Broussard, Dean Moore and husband Dwight, and Carolann Broussard; sisters, Lulabelle Toups and Olivia Comeaux of New Iberia, LA; along with many cousins and other relatives in Louisiana; a long list of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; many loving friends and neighbors. A special recognition and thanks to Clara Hollaway for being his closest friend the past 20 years.

Carol was born in New Iberia Parish, LA on August 8, 1924. He was raised on Avery Island, LA and later moved to Houston, TX. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 at the end of WWII and came back decorated with numerous metals. He participated in numerous campaigns in the South Pacific, namely the one most remembered being Quada Canal. Carol worked as a machinist for many years and retired at the age of 52. He was a great carpenter, part-time gunsmith, fisherman, hunter, and boater. He maintained his home and two rental properties for many years. Carol was known mostly as “Mr. Bruce.” He was fondly loved and will be remembered by all the lives he touched. He will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Pat H. Foley & Company. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 10500 Nold Rd., Houston, 77016. Father Francis NGO will be officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, 77039.
