Ms. Hornsby was my volleyball coach at Madison High from 1971-1974. She taught me life lessons that I continue to use and pass on to others. She was very special to me and I am sad at here passing. I will always be grateful and will never forget how she inspired me to be my best and always be positive. God bless her.

You were always my strong and guiding inspiration, my solid shoulder to lean on.....my rock - how will I live without that.  It is always difficult to sum up ones life in a memorial tribute and feel that adequate justice was done for the impact they made while here on this earth. My memories and love for you are cherished forever in my soul.

Thanks for sharing yourself with us all these years!  Weekends at the bay or at the lake or in Houston were sometimes crazy but always fun and treasured!  Keep shining brightly my friend!

Carole and I first met when we taught together at Jeff Davis in 1960.  What started as a professional relationship based on a mutual respect soon blossomed into a treasured friendship that has grown for for 56 years.  I will miss her terribly, especially her cautious attention to detail, generosity and practical jokes.  I look forward to being helped on the bus to Heaven by Carole!

Every time Carole came to my office, I knew it was going to be a good day. Her positive attitude and perpetual cheerfulness were contagious, and always uplifted me. I miss her, and will always remember her.

Carole was a funny and loving person. It was a privilege to know her and share many great fun times with her. Her dry humor kept us laughing.  She will be so missed by us.  Never a dull moment in her presence.

My great big hair, miniskirts and always getting caught smoking at Madison HS made me one of Coach Hornsby's problem students.
Not one for following rules and also a terrible athlete she was responsible for keeping me in line.
But she was always professional and respectful to me. I'm proud to say I had Coach Hornsby make me into a better person and having a great impact on my future life.
She was more than a coach and I know there are many more students that are greatful to have known such a special person. Rest in peace.

Today we celebrated the life of my Dear Aunt Carole who would have been 79 today. That laugh and always being there for us will never be forgotten . She was one remarkable woman  RIP until we meet again

Carole came to our lives as a ray of sunshine and happiness 14 years ago.  Her wit, charm and contagious laugh filled a room and was memorable for days after spending a little bit of time with her.  Showing a genuine interest in everyone's life she embodied the meaning of friend.
Look after us until we see you!

Dear Carole, We are going to miss you so much, including Peanut (our little yorkie). He still goes to your door looking for you! We were very blessed to have you as our friend and neighbor and we are looking forward to seeing you again :). Thank you for the many smiles you brought to our faces, and don't worry....we will keep Linda from climbing ladders!

Hey DaCarole
You're finally here. I've been waiting on the bridge for you. God prepared this beautiful place for us to wait for and be guardian angels for our Lindy until we are all together again.

Even before I met Carole, I heard stories of the wonderfully fun and adventurous life that she and Linda enjoyed. When I did finally meet her, I found that the warmth and brightness she brought to each occasion was not understated. 

Carole, we are so glad you were able to celebrate our wedding day with us, and we will keep you in our hearts and minds, celebrating your life each time we think of you. You will be missed but you are not forgotten, and the way that you touched the lives of those you loved will live on forever in each of us.

Carol was always such a joy to be around. I had not seen her for many years until earlier this year at a family members wedding. She hugged me and spoke as if we had seen each other yesterday.

I am sincerely moved by the news. Carol was a true friend and a colleague at Lee High School. I will always cherish her memory. She was kind and friendly, she had a beautiful personality and a good heart.  I am sure that she is in the presence of the Lord.

That Carole will be missed by all of us whose life she touched is a huge understatement.  She was one of the most wonderful people who ever walked this earth.  An honest, down to earth, loving person whose smile was so contagious that she brightened up the entire room. God called home one of his Angels and our hearts are heavy but we will find strength and peace through God because we know Carole would want it that way.  Always a winner!

Prayers to the family. I had Miss Hornsby as a coach at Jeff Davis H.S. many years ago. I thought she was the greatest. God has another precious angel.

Not many of the girls liked P.E.-all that sweat & physical stuff not to mention what it did to our hair! However, we all liked Miss Hornsby, not all for the same reasons. She was funny, honest and a good teacher. She wanted us to be the best we could be and she was the best example.

Fondly remember Coach Hornsby teaching me archery at Lee High School.  I was one of her "Lee Leaders" which was like a teacher's aide and I was very proud of that.  Something I will ALWAYS remember is shooting an arrow without properly straightening my elbow (as Coach Hornsby had taught us!)  By doing so I received a really painful sting when the string hit my elbow, prompting me to shout out a colorful expletive that was NOT allowed at Lee High School in 1978!  Coach Hornsby heard it and walked over and quietly told me she expected more from one of her Lee Leaders.  Made quite an impression on me and is one of the many reasons I don't swear to this day.  She made a difference.

Ms. Hornsby was my golf coach for 4 years at Lee HS.  She was a great coach and teacher and we always had a great time on her teams.  My deepest condolences to her friends and family.

I loved Coach Hornsby !  She was soooo funny, and a great coach !  She ran a tight ship !, and was loved by all.  Rest in Peace sweet lady !!!

My Aunt Carole took me to Six Flags Over Texas, the King Ranch, and my first ever basketball game at the original Delmar Fieldhouse. More importantly, she took me along with another young boy, Kenny. 50 plus years later, I am a Teacher/Coach in HISD with a commitment to Spec Ops. To say she changed my life is a tremendous understatement. She made me not only aware, but appreciative of life, in all it's often misunderstood variations. Thank you, and I will continue to try to honor all that you taught us.
