Carolyn was born August 23, 1936 at Heights Hospital, in Houston, Texas to Clarence and Nettie Bond. Carolyn attended Aldine schools and Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie, Texas. She knew Curtis Nelson from Aldine High School and Airline Assembly of God. They married December 23, 1955. They were blessed with 5 children, Chip, Craig, Cheryl, Calvin and Carlton. Carolyn’s greatest joys in life were church, traveling and family.
She devoted her life as a servant God’s people. She worked many years as the secretary of Gospel Assembly Church in Houston. Her home was often filled with ministers, their wives, and many of her church family, whom she loved to entertain. She and Curtis traveled with Bro. and Sis. Patton many miles attending churches across the country. One of her favorite places to visit was The Gospel of The Kingdom Campground in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Later in life, she attended Iglesia De Goodrich and Big Creek Gospel Church in Shepard, Texas.
If you knew anything about Carolyn, you knew she loved to travel. She has visited Canada, Mexico, Jerusalem, Bahamas, Haiti and nearly every state in the U.S. Her favorite vacation destination was Branson, MO, visiting nearly every year for the last 30 years, where she loved to watch the play, “Shepherd of the Hills”, attend a variety of music shows and walk the paths of Silver Dollar City.
Some of her fondest memories were times spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Nana enjoyed playing games with them, watching them play sports, and taking them out for dinner often. Nana loved when her family would gather in Branson to celebrate the holidays together, as well as their trips to see family in Montana.
