Carolyn Jean Rock, 75, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones during her short battle of pancreatic cancer. She was born on January 31, 1943 in Montclair, NJ to parents Kenneth B. Glass and Jean Stringham Glass.

She grew up in Bayhead, New Jersey where she loved being barefoot on the beach but did not like the winter cold. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1961 and fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse by attending the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune, NJ, graduating in 1964. She then went on to continue her dream of becoming a registered nurse with the prestigious Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX where she worked for over 30 years as an OR surgical scrub nurse at Scurlock Towers before retiring in 2002. She met her husband Joseph J. Rock, Jr. in New Jersey and married him in 1966 in Houston, TX. She was devoted to reading books all her life and was excited to get new books each week from the Houston Public Library.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Barbara Wallace. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph J. Rock, Jr. of 52 years; daughter Michelle Rock; son Michael Rock of Austin, Texas, leaving behind cherished memories; brothers Kenneth Glass, Jr. and wife Mary, of Bay Head, NJ, Richard Glass and wife Deborah, of Cooper City, FL, Russell Glass and wife Phyllis of Waretown, NJ, devoted brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Carol Rock of Plantersville, TX; a host nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends in various parts of the country that she truly loved dearly.

Her family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Elysian Hospice Home Care, the caregivers of No Place like Home, and her weekly caregiver of 3 years, Janae Roy, during her last days.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on November 17, 2018, from 1:00-3:00 pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.

In lieu of flowers, we ask donations go to some of her favorite charities: Humane Society, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Star of Hope, MDA, Houston Food Bank, American Heart Association or any charity that is close to your heart. Janet & Torino Delprete

November 10, 2018

Carol has been in our family for as long as I can remember. Her husband, Jack is my 1st cousin,
and Carol & I were pregnant at the same time. We shared many holidays together.
For the last 2-1/2 years we have reconnected and have had many dinners together.

Carol will always be in our heart and she will be missed. We're sad she is gone, but no
longer in pain.

Love
Tee & Janet
