“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7
Carrie Mae (Moham) Roberts was born on December 17, 1934 in Grand Cane, Louisiana to Ephraim and Nannie Moham. Carrie was the seventh of eight children born to this union. She was nicknamed “Camay” (short for Carrie Mae) by beloved relatives early on in her life. Carrie graduated from Desota Parish High School that was located in the Desota Parish region of Louisiana. Early in her life, Carrie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She publicly declared her decision to follow Christ by being a participant in water baptism at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Gloster, Louisiana.
Carrie migrated to Houston, Texas and eventually united with Mt Ararat Baptist Church under the leadership of founding Pastor Melbert Lewis. Although Carrie was not a highly educated person, her Pastor apparently sensed her honesty and integrity and appointed her to work on the finance committee where she served for more than forty years until her health began to fail. Carrie was initially reluctant to serve in this capacity, but she realized that obedience was better than sacrifice and honored her Pastor’s request. She married Richard James Roberts. From this union, her one and only son Ray Anthony Roberts (Rayboy) was born.
Carrie was employed at Neiman Marcus Mariposa Restaurant where she worked for more than twenty years and then retired. Since she had a deep love for children, she worked in daycare as a second career after she retired. She was employed by Matthews Daycare and Mt Ararat daycare. She peacefully transitioned on October 23, 2020 with loved ones at her bedside. Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, (Ephraim and Nannie Moham), her husband (Richard James Roberts), two sisters (Annie Belle Rutherford and Jessie Nell Wilson), three brothers (Sidney, Curtis, and Preston Moham), and one step daughter (Carolyn Roberts). She leaves to mourn her memories her son Ray Roberts (Carol), her sister (Eleanor Gatson), her brother (William Moham), grandchildren (Jeramy, Ray II, and Briahna Roberts) and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
