As a member of the USS Lloyd Thomas Reunion, I had the chance to experience Carter's immense presence at several of our ship's reunions. Farewell Shipmate, may you rest in peace.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting Captain Carter B. Conlin. But I do know his children, and grandchildren. I have heard many stories from his faithful son Carter B. Conlin Jr. Captain Carter B. Conlin was an amazing war hero that has me and my family moved by his heroism, and faithfulness to his family and country. Knowing his family and how special and wonderful they are shows me the great soul and influence that this great war hero was. There is no doubt in my mind this man will be sitting with all the great war heroes at the side of God. I can't wait to meet him.

On behalf of the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, I would like to express, our gratitude, and respect for CAPT Conlin. CAPT Conlin helped organize, spoke at and paid tribute to fallen comrades at the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony held annually on the Battleship Texas. He always did this with honor and dignity, but there was a twinkle in his eye that hinted at warmth and humor. We will truly miss him. May GOD bless him and his family.

Mr. Carter Conlin was a true friend to the USS Houston CA-30 Survivors Association & Next Generations. He was part of the committee responsible for the erection of the beautiful monument dedicated to the USS Houston CA-30 housed at the Heritage Society, Houston, TX.
If that were not enough, he has been a significant contributor at all 24 of the memorial services conducted at that monument each March, since its dedication in November of 1995. There he would be, in all his uniformed glory, reciting the Naval Hymn as the attendees hung on his every word.
If that were not enough, he was ALWAYS the consummate gentleman; dignified, and always with class and honor, like a true Captain.
He will be sorely missed yet never forgotten.
The Board of Managers and the entire Association pay tribute to Mr. Carter Conlin. We wish the family well, and may he rest in eternal peace well deserved.

I will always remember Carter at the annual Cruiser Houston memorial service, first Saturday in March, reciting the Navy Hymn. He was dressed in his Navy Captain Service Dress Blue ( SDB) uniform.

As part of this solemn ceremony recognizing the sacrifices of the sailors and Marines aboard USS HOUSTON (CA-30) Carter recited the Navy Hymn. He did this a sincerity and earnest care that lent a special touch to the memorial service.
