Cary Cravens Doggett

Cary attended Lamar High School, Mary Baldwin University in Virginia, and St. Thomas University in Houston. She worked for many years at Apollo Travel, where she combined her profession with her love of travel. Among her favorite destinations were Great Britain and Greece.

She cherished time with her “Lunch Bunch,” enjoyed playing Mahjong, watching classic films, and touring historic homes. One of her greatest joys was gathering with her extended family at the beloved Cravens Clan Family Reunion in Sewanee, Tennessee.

A devoted member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Cary faithfully served on the Altar Guild. She was also deeply involved in her community as a docent at Bayou Bend, a member of the Junior League of Houston, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. In addition, she volunteered at both the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural Science and was a member of the Houston Country Club.

Cary was preceded in death by her parents, Rutherford Rector Cravens II and Anne Baker Cravens.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas Lee Doggett, Jr. and his wife Nora, and John Cravens Doggett and his wife Amy; her six grandchildren, Priscilla, Burke, Cameron, Claire, Wyatt, and Preston Doggett; her siblings, Rutherford “Ruddy” Rector Cravens III and his wife Janie, Anne Cravens Bartley, and Ben Cravens and his wife Susan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Avanti Senior Living at Towne Lake in Cypress, Texas, for their compassionate care and support.

A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 17th of April, in the Christ Chapel at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston.

Immediately following all are invited to greet the family and share memories during a reception to be held in the nearby Chapel Reception Hall.
