Catherine Jenny Clark passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 1st of November 2018 at MD Anderson hospital in Houston, Texas. For over two years, Catherine fiercely battled stage four lung cancer which had spread to her bones and brain. She was 49 years old.

Catherine was born to Susan and Hermann Jenny on the 21st of July 1969 in New York, NY. Just days following her birth, Catherine and her family moved to Bangkok, Thailand. Over her childhood, Catherine’s father’s hotel management career took their family from Thailand, to Singapore, Switzerland, Sardinia Italy, Paris France, Memphis Tennessee, and London England.

After graduating from high school at St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis, Tennessee, Catherine attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Communications and minor in Japanese. While at Penn, Catherine met many new friends including her future husband, Hal Clark. Catherine was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

In the fall of 1991, Catherine and Hal moved to Hal’s hometown, Atlanta, Georgia, where Catherine worked in accounting for the Capital City Club and served as a member and the Secretary of the French culinary society, the Ordre des Canardiers. While in Atlanta, Catherine was welcomed and loved by Hal’s family and their friends. During their years in Atlanta, Catherine attended Emory University, where she earned a Masters of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance, and interned at Hewlett-Packard Company as a senior financial analyst.

Catherine and Hal moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1997, where Catherine worked for Entergy Corporation as a lead financial analyst and Hal attended Tulane University graduate business school. While in New Orleans, Catherine and Hal made many new friends and enjoyed the food and culture of that historic city.

Following Hal’s graduation from Tulane, they moved to Houston, Texas, where Catherine worked as a manager for Enron North America and Hal worked for JPMorgan Chase and then later Invesco. Catherine loved the culture and spirit of Texas, and she made many dear friends in Houston. She served as a volunteer at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and was an active parent at Westminster Methodist pre-school, Second Baptist School and St. John’s School. Catherine and Hal were members of The Children’s Fund charity for five years, where Catherine served as Treasurer.

Catherine loved to travel all around the world, especially to her family’s homes in Switzerland and France. She loved to cook, walk, read, and snow ski. She was fluent in Swiss German, French, Italian, and proficient in Japanese.

Catherine is survived by her husband Hal, son Schuyler, daughter Sarah, parents Susan and Hermann, brother Robert, and sister Anna-Lea.
