Catherine Saenz Rengifo

Catherine Saenz Rengifo, age 51, of Colombia, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Monday, December 05, 2022, in Bogota, Colombia. Catherine came into this world on May 9th, 1971, by parents Miguel Saenz Gomez and Amparo Clemencia Rengifo Matta.

After growing up in Colombia, she spent time in Madrid, Spain and in Los Angeles, California, USA, then returning to Colombia where she married Francisco Marcano in 2005, Together they relocated to Caracas, Venezuela; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Houston, Texas; Mexico City; Mexico; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and finally settling down in Houston Texas over the last 11 years. They were married for almost 18 years and dated for almost 20 years, and had two children, Emilio and Lorenza.

Catherine was a whole-hearted mother, and passionate wife, sister, daughter, and friend, always wanting and motivating everyone around her to be the best possible versions of themselves and advocate of the children moral and ethical upbringing and strong independence. She attended the Politecnico Colombiano in Bogota and obtained a degree in Marketing and Publicity; she always knew her true vocation was to be a mother and to volunteer her time to the most needed. Catherine was the most devoted Catholic, follower of the Virgin Mary, especially the Guadalupe Virgin Mary. She prayed the rosary regularly with her friends at the rosary group in Houston.

Catherine had a clear priority for her family and spent her time volunteering at The Village School, later becoming a substitute teacher when everyone called her “Coach Catherine”; she also volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic Church dedicated to help the homeless every week. She was also known to be an advocate for woman and their rightful recognition for the hard work they do. She was an avid cards player and a wonderful host of the “Q Negra” game. She loved to socialize and entertain, also traveling with the family and recently completed the “Santiago de Compostela” Pilgrimage with her sister Shirley and cousin Maria Cecilia.

Catherine is survived by her mother Amparo, daughter Lorenza, son Emilio, husband Francisco, and all of her sisters, Shirley, Julie, Sandy, Carolina and Kathy and her brothers Carlos Eduardo and Miguel Arturo.

She is preceded in death by her father Miguel Seanz Gomez.

The family wishes celebrate her life and legacy after a year of her departure from this world, with certainty and faith that she is in the Heavens in the Glory of God.

A formal mass will be held on Tuesday December 5th, 2023, from 01:30 pm to 2:30. at St John Vianey Catholic Church, at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079, and a memorial service at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM followed by a reception from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

Catherine Saenz Rengifo, edad 51, de Colombia, falleció inesperada y tranquilamente mientras dormía en las tempranas hora de la mañana del Lunes, 05 Diciembre, 2022, en Bogotá, Colombia. Catherine vino a este mundo el 9 de Mayo de 1971, siendo sus padres Miguel Saenz Gomez y Amparo Clemencia Rengifo Matta.

Después de su crianza en Colombia, paso tiempo en Madrid, España y Los Ángeles, California, USA, para luego retornar a Colombia donde se casó con Francisco Marcano en el 2005, una vez casados se mudaron a Caracas, Venezuela; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Houston, Texas; México City; México; Rio de Janeiro, Brasil y finalmente asentándose en Houston, Texas durante los últimos 11 años. Estuvieron casados por casi 18 años y estuvieron comprometidos por casi 20 años, tuvieron dos hijos, Emilio y Lorenza.

Catherine fue una madre de todo corazón, y una apasionada esposa, hermana, hija y amiga, siempre deseando y queriendo que todas las personas a su alrededor fueran la mejor versión posible de ellos mismos y siempre respaldo la crianza de los niños de formal moral y ética con una fuerte independencia. Catherine estudio en el Politécnico Colombiano en Bogotá y obtuvo el título de mercadeo y publicidad; ella siempre supo que su verdadera vocación eras ser madre y voluntariado de su tiempo a los más necesitados. Catherine fue una muy devota católica, seguidora firme de Virgen Maria, y en especial la virgen de Guadalupe. Rezo El Rosario con regularidad con sus amigas en el grupo de oración en Houston.

Catherine tuvo muy clara su prioridad por su familia e invirtió su tiempo como voluntaria en The Village School, donde más tarte de convirtió en maestra substitute donde todos la llamaba “Coach Catherine”; también hizo voluntariado en la Iglesia católica St. Joseph donde se dedicaba a ayudar a las personas sin hogar todas las semanas. Catherine también fue fiel creyente de los derechos y reconocimiento para el trabajo tan duro que ellas hace. Le encantaba jugar cartas y era una anfitriona excelente para el juego de “la Q Negra”. Le encantaba socializar y entretener, y también viajar con la familia, recientemente complete “el camino de Santiago de Compostela” con su hermana Shirley y su prima Maria Cecilia.

Catherine deja en este mundo a su madre Ampao, hija Lorenza, hijo Emilio, esposo Francisco, y todas sus hermanas, Shirley, Julie, Sandy, Carolina y Kathy, y todos sus hermanos Carlos Eduardo y Miguel Arturo.

Le precedió la Muerte de su padre Miguel Saenz Gomez.

La familia desea celebrar su vida y legado después de un ano de su partida de este mundo, con Certeza y fe que ella está en el Cielo en la Gloria de Dios.

Una misa formal será dedicada a Catherine el día 05 de Diciembre de 2023 a la 1:30 pm en la Iglesia de San John Vianney, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079, y un servicio completo sucederá en Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery en 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 el Sábado, 09 de Diciembre de 2023 a la 1:00 PM seguido de una recepción de 2:30 a 4:30.
